Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting® is an ultra-popular fat reduction procedure that is safe and suitable for most people.  Some circumstances when CoolSculpting® should be avoided include:

If you suffer from cryoglobulinemia
If you suffer from cold agglutinin disease
If you suffer from paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria
If you are pregnant.

Other medical conditions you should make your doctor aware of when determining if CoolSculpting® is right for you include:  any recent surgery, pre-existing hernia, Raynaud’s disease, and any known sensitivities or allergies.

This is not necessarily a complete list of contraindications and clinical considerations.

Ultimately, only a qualified healthcare professional can determine if you are good candidate for the CoolSculpting® procedure by evaluating your individual circumstances. Therefore, you should consider scheduling a consultation at a Dr. Sculpt center to determine if CoolSculpting® is right for you.

Note:  It is important to know that CoolSculpting® is NOT a weight loss solution for those that are obese. In fact, while CoolSculpting® is effective at slim your physique it does NOT result in significant weight reduction.

What makes Dr. Sculpt different than other CoolSculpting providers?

Dr. Sculpt focuses on body contouring.  Why is that important?  Well by concentrating on CoolSculpting® and CoolTone, our medical team has a higher degree of experience with freezing fat and magnetic muscle stimulation.

Finally, Dr, Sculpt’s proprietary CoolSculpting® treatment packages are designed to kill 40% of targeted fat cells.  That is considerably more than the 20 to 25% reduction that typically occurs after only a single round of CoolSculpting®.  Patients who purchase our packages tend to be happier with their CoolSculpting® results.[1][2][4][5]

Why are Dr. Sculpt’s CoolSculpting® multi-treatment packages so popular?

At Dr. Sculpt, we have created a variety of multi-treatment packages to help give our patients a more dramatic transformation.*  Our packages have two key components that make them more attractive than individual CoolSculpting® treatments:

Almost double the fat reduction

Dr. Sculpt’s CoolSculpting® packages include TWO rounds of treatment for each targeted area.  Two to three months after the second round of treatment on the same area, patients can expect a 40% reduction of targeted pinchable fat – which is almost twice the 20 to 25% reduction you get with a single round of CoolSculpting®.  Our patients love the enhanced results our packages offer, because nobody wants to kill just 20% of their unwanted fat when a more dramatic 40% reduction is achievable.[1][2][4][5]

Lower cost

Dr. Sculpt’s packages offer patients the best price per CoolSculpting® treatment with a significant discount off the standard price of $900/cycle.  In fact, our packages are a cost-effective way to get the CoolSculpting® results you want.  Furthermore, when you buy multiple packages your price per treatment can become even lower. For these reasons, a majority of our patients choose to purchase our multi-treatment packages instead of individual CoolSculpting® treatments.

*Note:  In the U.S., the CoolSculpting® procedure is FDA-cleared[1] for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental area (under the chin), abdomen, flanks (love handles), and thighs, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as the banana roll), and the upper arm.

How much does CoolSculpting cost?

CoolSculpting® is frequently marketed for $600.  This can be misleading, and we want to set the record straight.  Six hundred dollars per treatment is a very competitive price for CoolSculpting® (our standard price is $900/treatment), but you need at least 2 treatments to symmetrically target both sides of your body (e.g. treating your left and right thighs requires 2 treatments).  Furthermore, a single round of treatment only gets you a 20-25% reduction in fat cells.  Therefore, most patients elect to have a second round of treatments for more noticeable results.

Based on these facts, Dr. Sculpt offers patients multi-treatment CoolSculpting® packages that help people get the results they want at a reasonable price point.  The price for these packages starts at $2,400 for each area you want to target.  For example, if you want slimmer arms then take a look at Dr. Sculpt’s Right To Bare Arms™ package that includes 4 arm treatments for $2,400.  On the other hand, if you want to target belly fat you should consider our Absolute Abs™ package which offers you 8 treatment cycles for $5,000.

Educated consumers consider our packages to be an attractive option when compared to alternatives such as liposuction or plastic surgery, because these surgical options can cost two or even three times more to target similar areas of the body.

How long is each treatment?

The length of a CoolSculpting® treatment (aka a “cycle”) ranges from 35 to 75 minutes depending on the type of applicator being used.  The most popular treatments are only 35 minutes long.  Sometimes you may be able to receive multiple treatments simultaneously, and in a single day we can target multiple areas.  In between each treatment you can take a short break to use the restroom or grab a refreshment.

How many treatment will I need?

The number of treatments needed to achieve your specific goals depends on (i) the areas you want to target, and the (ii) percentage of fat cells you want to eliminate from those areas.  First, each area you want to target has both a left and right side (e.g. left and right arms, left and right love handles, etc.).  Therefore, each area you want to target will require at least 2 CoolSculpting® treatments (one for the left side and one for the right).

Also, keep in mind that the first round of treatments gets you a 20-25% reduction in fat cells from the targeted site, whereas a second round of treatments reduces about 40% of the initial fat cells from the targeted site.  Since most people prefer the more noticeable 40% reduction in fat cells, they purchase 2 rounds of treatment (4 treatments total – 2 for each side) for each part of their body they want to target.

Doing the math, with each standard CoolSculpting® cycle costing $600, its costs about $2,400 (600 x 4) to reduce 40% of pinchable fat cells from a targeted area.  This is only a fraction of the cost to get liposuction, which makes Dr. Sculpt the ideal option for most patients.[1][2][4][5]

Where does the dead fat go? Will the killed fat cells come back?

With each CoolSculpting® treatment 20 to 25% of the targeted fat cells die.  In the weeks and months following the procedure these dead fat cells shrink and disintegrate.  Eventually, the remnants of this process are naturally metabolized and removed from the body (NOT as fat cells, but as a byproduct of the body’s natural ability to absorb and metabolize dead cells).  This entire process takes approximately 8 to 12 weeks, but can continue for as long as 16 weeks after the treatment.[2][3][4][5][6][8][9][2][3][4][5][6][8][9]

What does the CoolSculpting treatment feel like?

At the beginning of the treatment a cold gel pad is placed over the skin.  Next the treatment applicator is placed on the target area and the treatment begins.  With certain applicators you will feel some pulling as suction is applied.  For the first few minutes of the treatment, you typically feel intense cold.  This feeling soon dissipates as the targeted skin becomes numb 5 to 10 minutes after the treatment commences.  Many patients read, watch videos, use their mobile device or even take a little siesta during their treatment.

At the conclusion of the treatment, the targeted skin is massaged for about 2 minutes.  This massage is intended to improve your fat reduction results, but it can be accompanied with some discomfort and tingling.  Fortunately, it only lasts a few minutes.  After their treatments, patients are usually able to return to normal activities immediately with little to no downtime or limitations.[2][3][4][5][6][8][9]

Who should NOT have CoolSculpting?

The CoolSculpting® procedure is NOT for everyone.  You should NOT have the CoolSculpting® procedure if you are pregnant or if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.  The CoolSculpting® procedure is NOT a weight loss solution or a treatment for obesity.  For clarity, please remember that CoolSculpting® can slim your physique without significant weight reduction.

As with any medical procedure, ask your physician or trained professional if CoolSculpting® is right for you.

What happens if I gain weight after CoolSculpting?

After seeing their CoolSculpting® results, many people feel even more motivated to stay close to their ideal weight. However, if you do gain weight, you may gain it evenly all over your body, not just in the treated areas.  Some people elect to have additional CoolSculpting® to target the new fat cells created when they gained weight.
